Despite slower sales in the domestic motorcycle industry, Royal Enfield, a leisure bike manufacturer, achieved a 45.3% growth in sales, selling 34,736 units in the first quarter of this year. This impressive performance, on a low base of 23,899 units sold in the same period last year, has inspired Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield's parent company, to strive for global leadership in the mid-size segment. Siddharth Lal, the managing director and CEO of Eicher Motors, has expressed their ambition to become a significant global player in the mid-size motorcycle category.
